Goals of the Day Camp Program
• To instill the YMCA Mission and YMCA Core Values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility through our day camp programs and activities.
• To provide progressive experiences that include: arts and crafts, nature activities, leadership development, swimming, games and sports. • To provide programs and activities that build leadership, self-confidence, independence, and socialization skills in all campers. • To provide campers the opportunity to enhance personal grow skills such as problem solving, communication, and teamwork. • To provide an understanding of cultural differences.
YMCA Day Camp has seven objectives that are set for all program participants: Grow Personally,
Learn Values, Improve personal and family relationships, Appreciate Diversity, Become better leaders and supporters, Develop specific skills, and Have Fun! Traditional camps (Macungie & Exploration) offer a well-rounded camp experience. Campers are exposed to a variety of activities including arts & crafts, sports, games, nature projects, character development, team building, and swimming.

We did a lot of creative, educational, and fun activities this year. Some of the most memorable being the trip to Camel Beach Water Park, a showcase of the variety of talents held by our campers and staff in the Annual Talent Show, two fabulous theater productions, three parent dinners whipped up by our own Little Chefs, and the debut of our newest addition to camp Skate, Bowl, and Mini-Golf which was a hit! We ended camp with a Core Value Party where campers showcased all the things they learned throughout the summer such as new skills, interaction and communication, core values (respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty), teamwork, and embracing diversity. I’m looking forward to the summer of 2011, where our day camping program can reach new heights. Campers will be able to experience new and fresh activities, play tons of games, learn new skills and sports, as well as meet new people and make new friends. So if your looking for a positive environment for your children to learn and grow during their summer vacation, think about the Allentown YMCA & YWCA Day Camping Program, where every camper has the opportunity to reach for the stars.
